About the Artist
Stan Glassman was loved by his family and his many friends. His two grandchildren, Hayden and Miles, as with so many grandparents, meant the world to him. Yet his lifelong romance was with music and art.
Maybe I should say more, though Stan would think this too much already.
For now, The Music Art Shop, with just some of the artwork created by Stan from college days and the army, 1940 to his passing in 2016, is establishing a foundation to help inner city and (or) underpriviledged kids purchase musical instruments. The details are being worked out, but 50% of sales (IRS you’re welcome to make note 🙂 will be donated each year in memory of Stan Glassman Music & Art.
Over years I've often heard
Stan’s art is “so whimsical, playful…” That on the fun side. Stylized, insightful – that gets deeper into some of Stan’s energy/essence.
What I remember...
My good friend Bill once said, “Stan’s art is just so full of joy!”…And as I started putting things together here, I realized how true this is.
I’ve always known how much people gravitated to my father’s art since I was little, when he painted action figures and Disney characters on our cinderblock basement walls in the late 1950’s. My brother Marc (the real musician) and I got giddy. The neighborhood kids went absolutely wild! :-))
My hope is to bring a little piece of my father to the world by sharing his unique, one-of-a-kind art in beautiful, prints and products. I trust these pieces will bring you joy, just as they have for so many before.
On behalf of my father, warm regards-
Stan
P.S. Putting his artwork up, I certainly feel how Kevin Costner felt in ‘Field of Dreams’...Oh yes. It’s like playing catch with my father as I see the twinkle in his eye.
Below, some of the group of great musicians Stan and fine piano player, Dr. Jack Presberg, were credited with starting decades before some of these of these superb players had taken their first music lessons 🙂 He appreciated and valued his time with all of you.
